KT Tape Application

Flexible kinesiology tape applied to support joints and muscles, ease swelling, and help you keep moving comfortably while your body recovers.

Kinesiology tape, often called KT tape, is a thin, stretchy cotton tape designed to move with your skin. Unlike rigid athletic tape that locks a joint in place, kinesiology tape gives support while still letting you move through your full range of motion. Applied with the right amount of stretch and in the right direction, it gently lifts the skin over the area underneath, which many people find reduces pain and pressure and makes it easier to stay active.

The key to getting results from tape is the application. Before any tape goes on, we look at how you move and where the problem is coming from, not just where it hurts. Then the tape is cut and applied specifically for your body and your goal, whether that is supporting a cranky knee during squats, taking pressure off a sore shoulder, calming swelling after a bump or sprain, or giving your posture muscles a reminder throughout the day.

KT tape works best as part of a bigger plan. As a corrective fitness trainer and massage therapist, I use it alongside soft tissue work and targeted exercise, so you get support today while we fix the underlying movement issue. It can be added to a massage or training session, or booked on its own before a race, game, or a big week of training.

Common Taping Applications

Tape can be applied almost anywhere on the body. These are the most common reasons people come in for it.

Who should consider KT Tape

Kinesiology tape is simple, low-risk, and easy to add to any session. Here is who tends to get the most out of it.

If a nagging knee, shoulder, or ankle is making workouts uncomfortable, tape can provide support so you can keep training smart while we work on the cause.

Once a minor injury has been checked out, tape can help manage swelling and give the area light support as you ease back into normal movement.

Tape gives your body a physical reminder throughout the day, which pairs well with the corrective exercises in your training program.

Tape should not go over open wounds, broken or irritated skin, or areas with a known adhesive allergy. If you have very fragile skin, diabetes, circulation problems, or a suspected fracture or serious injury, please check with your healthcare provider first.
